Fiddlewidget for String Teachers
Where do we go from here?Scope: None of this material deals with anything really complicated;
there's no mention here of pentatonic scales, all the various modes, or even the circle of fifths.
I prefer to spend more time practicing, working with and getting a really solid understanding of the
simple concepts first.
So we just present the basic tools for creating and modifying simple music in major keys. I think music theory is like
red pepper. A little goes a long way, and it's also easy to overdo it if you're not careful.
Generating Interest: Students that see how theory can help them create and have some fun may be
inclined to dig into it a little more. Without that initial understanding, it's very
unlikely many of them will want to go any further. If you agree that using the Fiddlewidget tools as a visual aid to learning is a worthwhile thing to pursue,
I'll try to help you do that. Communication
That means not just sending you a couple hundred gizmos and going away.
My e-mail address and phone number is on every page of this website, and on every Fiddlewidget that
goes out the door.
It's there because I want people to talk to me. So please do that if you have questions, comments or concerns. Available from nationally known music suppliers, or call Bruce Haney at (423) 349-6715 |
